Casa Milà
Welcome to Barcelona! Casa Milà, nicknamed "La Pedrera" (the stone quarry), is an apartment building with no straight walls at all — just curves, everywhere.
Why is it famous?
Its rippling stone front looks like waves rolling across the sea.
Antoni Gaudí, the same architect who designed the Sagrada Família, built it as an apartment building for a wealthy family.
The roof full of warriors
The rooftop is covered in giant twisting chimneys that look like armored warriors standing guard.
Locals nicknamed them "espantabruixes" — witch scarers!
Amazing facts
It was built between 1906 and 1912 and was the last private home Gaudí ever designed.
The attic has 270 curved brick arches that look like the ribs of a giant whale.
