Monument Valley 3D
Welcome to the Navajo Nation! Monument Valley is a wide desert dotted with towering red sandstone buttes that seem to rise straight out of the flat ground.
Why is it famous?
Its giant red rock towers, called buttes, are instantly recognizable around the world.
It has appeared as the backdrop in countless movies, especially classic westerns.
How was it formed?
Millions of years of wind and water wore away softer rock, leaving only the hardest sandstone standing.
What's left are tall, flat-topped buttes and thin spires rising above the desert floor.
